Decorating With the Right Kitchen Canisters

Whether you are doing a total kitchen remodel, or just sprucing it up a bit for the holidays, you'll want to pay special attention to the kitchen canisters that you choose for your spiffy new kitchen theme. With so many designs available, it is easy these days to choose a canister look that will compliment your overall kitchen theme. But if you aren't careful, you can blow the whole look by choosing the wrong kitchen accessories. So let's take a look a few of the more popular canister designs to determine which one will work best for your own kitchen.
Ceramic Canisters. These days, ceramic kitchen canisters offer a lot of design versatility. Gone are the days when pottery came in one color - white - and you had to love it or leave it. Instead, you can choose from beautiful colored ceramic canisters in deep shades of red, blue, green or just about any other color that you need to coordinate with your kitchen design. Solid colored canisters are a great choice if your kitchen sports a very busy theme, with lots of patterns in the wallpaper and dishtowels.
However, if your kitchen is a bit on the plain side, with solid color walls, flooring, and no back splash, you can create a visual focal point by choosing one of the many themed canister sets. How about a set of rooster canisters where the head serves as lid? Or a village of ceramic house canisters? Just keep in mind that once a theme has been taken to its extreme, it is no longer a theme but a distraction. So if you have a border of sunflowers around the room, and sunflower dishtowels and sunflower pot holders, you would be better off skipping the sunflower canisters and choosing a solid yellow or green canister set to accent the theme without overdoing it.
